Hello, I’m Kate, a twenty-something graduate student. I just completed my master’s degree and I’m about to embark on a journey to get my PhD in Theatre Studies. Yes, you can get a PhD in theatre and no, I do not want to act, direct, or design. Shocking, I know. Instead, I study theatre history, analyze theatre from various theoretical frameworks, analyzes plays, and do research for productions. Ultimately, I want to stay in academia and continue my research and teaching pursuits.
After spending the past two years living in a rural Washington town, I’ve moved back to Florida and bought a house. I wonder if I had been living in Seattle if I would have enjoyed Washington more. Either way, right now I’m really thankful to be driving distance from my family and friends, to no longer have to worry about snow and avalanches, and to have my own house.
Aside from school, I’m interested in all the different facets of healthy living. I have PCOS, which motivates me to stay active, eat healthy and unprocessed foods, and use as many natural soaps, shampoos, cleaners, etc. as I can. I’m first and foremost a runner, but I’m also trying to build my swimming endurance so I feel comfortable trying a triathlon.

I’m trying to figure out how to balance school, work, a social life, and a healthy lifestyle.
